Snowdrift

This scene was painted on the spot, after snow had drifted over the North Yorkshire moors in the early hours of the morning. The sun was shinning very bright, which reflected the colours on the snow and changed the contour of the land. Light carries colour and, this can change the effect and shape of the land, light is needed to define a subject and bring definition to objects.

In general, my work consists of four or five layers of paint on the canvas and, sometimes I like to add paper and beads. By under painting with a subdued colour and then over painting with an intense colour one can create a unique interpretation of a scene.
